What's the point of having gas mains running along major streets that residents can't access? That's not a viable business plan, expecting residents or associations to run those lines is silly, and something promising needs to occur so that more homes can take advantage of this clean and abundant energy resource. Undoubtedly this will save millions in energy costs while providing another clean means of energy.
The Florida Legislature should consider a program that finances the installation of gas pipe extensions from the gas lines on major streets into our many residential communities that will otherwise have no access to natural gas. Last week: Kudos to the Sun Sentinel this week for an outstanding report on the PACE program - property assessed clean energy - which is a convenient means of financing home improvements like windows, roofs and solar panels, among others, that save energy.
